The Test Manager for the Compass programme platform implementation is responsible for leading and managing all testing activities related to the deployment and integration of new platforms across the programme. This includes ServiceNow and Snow. The role involves planning, coordinating, and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure the platform meets business requirements, performance standards, and quality benchmarks. The Test Manager will work closely with external suppliers, Delivery Leads, development teams, business analysts, stakeholders, and end-users to ensure a successful platform implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Test Planning and Strategy
    • Develop a comprehensive test strategy and plan for the new platform implementation.
    • Define test objectives, scope, and success criteria, ensuring alignment with programme goals.
    • Design and maintain test schedules, resource plans, and test environments.
  • Test Case Development
    • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and business processes.
    • Develop and review detailed test cases and test scripts to ensure extensive coverage.
    • Ensure traceability of test cases to functional, non-functional, and integration requirements.
  • Test Execution
    • Coordinate and oversee the execution of all testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, and UAT, some of which may be completed by an external supplier.
    • Facilitate UAT sessions, providing support and guidance to end-users and stakeholders.
    • Monitor and report on test progress, results, and defect status.
  • Defect Management
    • Manage the defect lifecycle, including logging, prioritizing, tracking, and coordinating defect resolution.
    • Conduct root cause analysis of defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all testing-related matters.
    • Facilitate effective communication between project teams, developers, business analysts, and end-users.
    • Organize and lead regular test status meetings, providing updates to stakeholders.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with testing activities.
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and testing best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Automation and Tools
    • Identify opportunities for test automation and implement automated testing frameworks where applicable.
    • Utilize and manage test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM, Selenium, etc.).
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain comprehensive testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports.
    • Generate and distribute detailed test status reports and metrics to stakeholders.

  • Successful experience of UAT and end-to-end testing
  • Understanding of agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery lifecycle models
