The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 £ per year.

The PET's primary function is to provide reactive and proactive lineside support to the Plant and enable Wings to be delivered to the FALs. We identify, investigate, provide technical solutions, and deliver flow mods, significant mods, and major mods for production easements. These include structural and systems modifications for rate, cost improvements, and production and quality easements across the Plant, FALs, and supply chain.

We are looking to appoint a Design Authoriser to support the Wing Component Delivery Team (CDT). The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team delivering high-quality design support to meet Plant needs. The team provides engineering solutions across Broughton Plant Manufacturing, ensuring business objectives and product integrity, and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering colleagues to promote a true MEET (Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Together) ethos.

Aspects of the Role

  • Tangible Deliverables to Time, Cost, and Quality
  • Lead design investigations and develop technical solutions for tasks including modifications to the Type Design, Design / Works Query Notes ('Flow Modifications'), ensuring all design, airworthiness, and safety requirements are met.
  • Liaise with other functions for fully integrated design solutions.
  • Operate as a lead design engineer with industry-recognised design authorisation signatory status.
  • Provide guidance on technical issues and governance, leading the structural design process to ensure optimised designs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency through methods, processes, and capability improvements.
  • Report on critical technical issues and mentor engineering team members.

Main Activities

  • Approve and authorise design solutions for various tasks, including major/minor modifications and design query notes.
  • Mentor and lead the engineering team, helping develop skills and addressing gaps.
  • Ensure design standards are met, collaborating with other functions for fully integrated solutions.
  • Act as a design authorisation signatory.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders like CVE, Chief Engineer, Configuration Management, and Local Programmes Team to ensure satisfactory design solutions and support airworthiness certification and configuration management.
