Your New Team: You will be part of European Energy UK Limited consisting of 25 dedicated colleagues primarily based in our Glasgow office. Your New Role: As our new Financial Accountant, you will be central to maintaining financial processing across UK entities, ensuring compliance with region-specific regulatory requirements, and supporting the implementation of Business Central. You will be joining at a pivotal moment, contributing to enhanced financial oversight and enabling better decision-making tailored to the UK market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial accounting processes for UK entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Handle daily bookkeeping activities and process bank payments for UK entities, maintaining accurate records and appropriate documentation.
- Perform regular reconciliations and review of all P&L and balance sheet accounts, and intercompany balances to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly.
- Execute monthly and quarterly period-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and CIS Returns in accordance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
- Ensure all financial activities adhere to UK specific financial regulations, accounting standards (local GAAP), and internal policies.
- Support the implementation and ongoing optimization of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (ERP), contributing to process improvements and system efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate financial reporting.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies.
Your Profile:
- Degree level or HNC qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a financial accounting role.
- You have profound skills in accounting including local GAAP, VAT, and Tax.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP and consolidation systems, preferably Navision/Business Central.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
