European Electronique is a leading IT technology systems integrator, specialising in the design, delivery and management of large IT projects, predominately in the education space (both U18's, FE & HE). Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 plus car allowance

Location: Flexible - although within reasonable commuting distance to Oxford, UK

Reporting to: Head of Service

Role type: Hybrid - Customer sites (UK), Head office in Oxfordshire and some home working as determined by diary commitments. RTW essential as is the ability to hold an enhanced DBS certificate. URGENT REQUIREMENT - START DATE ASAP

This role is to lead European Electronique project teams and take ownership for the planning, strategy, budget and execution of tasks to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects. You will be required to deliver projects for a variety of different establishments including public sector, education, healthcare and local government.

The Senior Project Manager must manage and keep track of output and performance and look for innovative solutions to problems that may arise. They also ensure teams adhere to the project management framework and use the right tools, processes and reporting principles. You will be responsible for delivering projects on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support client and business goals.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required resource from within the Company.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary, during project cycle.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate people and teams.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements, documentation and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyse results and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project lessons learned sessions and create recommendation reports in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Setting project governance and structure.
  • Compliance with all ISO policies.

Key Skills:

  • Prince 2 – Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a collaborative, team-orientated environment is essential.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Flexible during times of change.
  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients and other departments.
  • Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise.
  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
