Role Description
The Senior Finance Officer is a full-time role based in Colchester. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the effective operation of ECPR's finance function through the accurate processing, reconciliation and control of financial transactions. The role supports the production of management information, VAT returns, audit schedules and month-end processes whilst maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, customers and external stakeholders. The Senior Finance Officer will play a significant role in the ongoing transition from Sage to QuickBooks and will actively contribute to identifying, developing and implementing process improvements, automation opportunities and innovative ways of working that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function. The postholder will act as deputy to the Finance Manager where appropriate and provide support across all areas of finance operations.
Essential Qualifications
- AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and reporting functions
- Minimum three years' experience working in a finance function
- Sage 50 experience
- Experience of both sales and purchase ledger operations
- Experience of bank reconciliations and month-end procedures
- Experience supporting VAT returns and compliance activities
- Experience supporting year-end audit processes
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
- Experience using automation or AI tools within an office or finance environment
