Our growing portfolio includes phase I-III and observational studies, leading to expansion within the unit. As a UK-wide pan-cancer CRUK CTU, we have undertaken First-in-Human phase I trials in novel immunotherapies, collaborating with the Southampton Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) and the UK Clinical Research Facility (CRF) network. Our work spans early diagnosis, translational research, and various clinical trials across multiple areas including primary care, respiratory, critical care, and palliative care. The ideal candidate will have substantial practical knowledge and experience in early diagnosis and translational research, supported by formal qualifications equivalent to a PhD in a science-based field. The post holder will lead the Early Diagnosis and Translational Team, setting quality standards, fostering strategic relationships within SCTU, across the University, and with external stakeholders. Strong negotiation, communication, and strategic planning skills are essential. Summary of the environment The SCTU is based within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, ranked among the top 100 universities globally. Our office is located in the Centre of Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital, alongside Southampton ECMC, NIHR BRC, NIHR CRF, and other research colleagues.
