We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a board-certified (ECVDI or ACVR) or residency-trained radiologist to join our dedicated team at Pride Veterinary Referrals on a part-time basis, with a working pattern negotiable for the right candidate. Pride Veterinary Referrals is the central small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, a multi-species practice employing over 300 staff across 10 sites in the Midlands.
At Pride we offer specialist led services in internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, cardiology, and on-site hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. We work closely with the University of Nottingham, with veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services at Pride. This provides the opportunity to support teaching and research interests and the chance to inspire the next generation of veterinary professionals.
The imaging team is currently comprised of two specialist radiologists, one resident, one imaging intern, three radiographers and two imaging nurses. We have a varied and challenging imaging caseload covering all imaging modalities (radiography, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI). Imaging facilities include digital radiography, C-Arm fluoroscopy, 2 GE ultrasound machines, a 16-slice GE CT, a 1.5T HDE MRI as well as a brand-new portable X-Ray. The imaging team is at the heart of the hospital and works collaboratively with every department. There is excellent interaction between all the various disciplines and therefore an exceptional level of intellectual stimulation and discussion over all specialties with a friendly and dedicated referral team.
Required skills and experience
- Board-certified radiologist with ECVDI or ACVR Diploma. Candidates who have completed an approved ECVDI/ACVR residency programme (“residency-trained”) are encouraged to apply too.
- Have diagnostic and reporting experience in English, covering all modalities.
- Have strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset and a love of teamwork.
- Support and value a hospital culture rooted in kindness, inclusivity, empathy and mutual respect.
A Working Pattern That Provides a Work-Life Balance
Our full-time team enjoys a 34-hour work week over 4 days, with an extra 6 hours paid weekly in recognition of on-call and overtime support. For this role, we anticipate a flexible 3-day week—3 x 8.5-hour hospital shifts plus 4.5 additional paid hours in lieu of on-call/overtime. Days are negotiable, though ideally to include Fridays. We would be open to discussing Full Time hours if required.
Beautiful Surroundings
We are located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities (Nottingham, Birmingham, London) via road and rail network. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. The beautiful Peak District is just around the corner, well-known for its natural beauty and picturesque villages, where you can discover beautiful landscapes and walking routes, historic castles, and world-class heritage sites.
