The job purpose of the Airworthiness Engineer is to oversee the technical aspects of the aircraft’s continued airworthiness, including maintenance planning, documentation control, and airworthiness reviews. Responsibilities encompass a multifaceted realm of aircraft maintenance and regulatory compliance ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft throughout their operational lifecycle, adhering to stringent aviation regulations and safety standards. This is a pivotal role in the company’s commitment to reliability, compliance, and the seamless operation of aircraft and therefore contributes significantly to the excellence of airworthiness management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of an aircraft throughout its life cycle and managing the technical aspects of the aircraft’s continued airworthiness, assisting with maintenance planning and documentation control.
  • May be required to assist in airworthiness reviews as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with all aviation regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Work with aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, and authorities to address technical issues.
  • Keep track of maintenance programme updates and ensure they are up to date.
  • Handle technical administrative tasks and maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to the aircraft’s maintenance and airworthiness.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance personnel and operators by providing guidance on technical issues and answering aircraft related technical issues.
  • Have an understanding of repairs, dent and buckle charts, reliability reviews and modifications.
  • Ensure that the mass and balance statement reflects the current status of the aircraft.
  • Identify and assess potential safety concerns and provide solutions.

Other Duties

  • As directed by the Continuing Airworthiness Manager and as considered necessary to meet the day-to-day, ongoing requirements of the business.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Airworthiness Engineer Supervisor.
  • The Airworthiness Engineer must stay up-to-date with evolving aviation regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance and enhance safety protocols.

Person Specification Criteria

Experience

  • Experience within a UK CAA / EASA Part M, Part CAMO and Part 145 environment or equivalent.
  • Technical career experience within aviation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in Industry Standards, Best Practices and Aviation Regulations as required by EASA and UK CAA including Part CAMO, Part-145, Part–21, Part–M, CAP–562 and CAP–747.
  • A sound knowledge of aircraft systems, structures and maintenance procedures.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft 365: Word / Excel / Outlook / TEAMS.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team and on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to plan and prioritise effectively, and execute tasks competently.
