The intern will assist colleagues in the climate risk team to fulfil the Bank's commitments under its climate risk procedures and methodologies, as well as to meet the team's wider objectives. The role includes supporting the overhaul of the methodology, process, data collection and management of information relating to climate-related financial risk assessment. A 12-month internship with a focus on the identification and assessment of climate-related financial risk.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Climate Risk team colleagues in meeting organizational commitments and objectives.
  • Support the overhaul of methodology and processes for climate-related financial risk assessment.
  • Collect, manage, organise and control data used to identify and assess financial impacts of climate-related risk on the Bank's clients.
  • Maintain and enrich the internal database; extract and format relevant screening data for the new climate risk tool.
  • Conduct client-specific research, data collection and preparation of presentations, documenting items, and taking minutes of meetings.
  • Analyse and compile data from internal sources, rebuild quantitative assessments for audit control and verify consistency of results.
  • Take responsibility for assigned projects and initiatives, including methodology drafting, comment collation, control checks and climate-risk monitoring.
  • Coordinate meetings and events, collaborate with other Bank departments, and propose refinements to improve the assessment and monitoring process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures, streamlining, collection, management and automation of data.
  • Work within the team, adhering to the Bank's Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in data science, economics, engineering or a related field, or comparable professional experience.
  • Familiarity and some experience with control or finance and with climate-related financial risk.
  • Proven analytical research and quantitative skills, particularly advanced Excel.
  • Ability to gather, organise, manage and derive insights from data.
  • Strong research and analytical skills; knowledge of climate risks.
  • Excellent time-management, organisational skills and ability to multitask without losing attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills and capacity to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with data-analysis skill; ability to use AI tools to interrogate and present results to a non-technical audience.
