The Analyst, Internal Audit Analytics is a junior (entry level) role responsible for significantly contributing to developing, executing, and improving the Internal Audit Department's (IAD) digital strategy, expanding the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance IAD's ability to provide insights, assurance and advice. Additionally, as a member of IAD's IT & Analytics team, the Analyst contributes to the ongoing risk assessment of their assigned portfolio and the execution of audit engagements relating to the EBRD's Transformation Group (including IT applications, platforms and processes, project and programme assurance) in line with IAD's risk‑based audit plan. The role also assists the IAD team in ad‑hoc responsibilities and tasks, including supervising other team members, guest auditors, and external consultants, advisory work, and departmental improvements, as assigned by the IAD leadership team.

Background: The Board of Directors established IAD as part of its oversight role. IAD, as a trusted independent third line of defence, and in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Professional Practices Framework, provides timely risk‑based and objective assurance and advice to Executive Management and the Board of Directors on the adequacy and effectiveness of the EBRD's risk and control framework. IAD aspires to be a function of excellence, valued by stakeholders for insights and foresight, objective assurance and advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IAD in developing, executing, and improving its digital strategy, covering data analytics, AI automation and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) software tooling.
  • Participate in audit assignments, contributing to planning, fieldwork, drafting audit issues and reports.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, generally up to Director level, and coordinate with other IAD members.
  • Supervise team members, guest auditors and external consultants on an ad‑hoc basis as required.
  • Help promote and drive the execution of IAD's digital strategy, including:
  • Liaise with stakeholders in the EBRD's Transformation Group (including the AI Centre of Excellence) and business areas to understand the EBRD's data and AI landscape.
  • Facilitate access to data and create and run data extraction queries.
  • Gather requirements and develop and maintain data analytics dashboards, use cases and AI prompts.
  • Assess data quality, completeness and relevance.
  • Provide or coordinate related training for team members.
  • Monitor best practices externally to identify opportunities for better data analytics and AI integration.
  • Support the deployment and use of data analytics and AI tools in the department.
  • Support the use of GRC software tooling (ServiceNow IRM) by liaising with internal IT teams and stakeholders to assist with support and enhancement requests.
  • Audit Risk Assessment and Delivery

    • Continuously monitor and assess organisational, risk and control developments in the assigned portfolio of coverage.
    • Assist with audit engagements under supervision, including identifying key risks, devising engagement plans, performing fieldwork, discussing improvement areas with stakeholders and recommending remedial actions, and drafting high quality audit reports for Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
    • Ensure timely and adequate validation of IAD issues within the assigned portfolio.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage constructive relationships with stakeholders.
    • Deliver assigned activities in a timely manner and to the required level of quality, in accordance with IIA standards, Code of Ethics and related guidance.
    • Keep abreast of relevant industry and organisational developments on data analytics, automation and AI to update risk assessments and drive innovation.
    • Proactively support other departmental initiatives and deliverables as assigned.

    Education and Qualifications

    • University degree or equivalent, preferably with a data, AI, technology, maths focus or other subjects with a significant data or AI component, particularly in business and finance.

    Professional Certifications (desired)

    • Data analytics and AI certifications.
    • Professional qualifications relating to IT auditing, IT security or IT risk management.

    Additional Desirable Experience

    • Post‑education experience developing the use of data analytics and AI in a business context, preferably in finance or banking.
    • Experience in auditing or risk management.

    Technical and Personal Skills

    • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
    • Ability to apply theoretical data analytics and AI practices to create solutions in a corporate environment.
    • Sound oral and written communication skills in English, able to adapt messages to the audience and negotiate recommendations.
    • Team player, able to work effectively in a matrix environment.
    • Efficient, persistent and self‑managing under pressure.
    • Strong technical skills with data analytics, ETL and visualisation tools (Excel, Access, SQL Server Management Studio, Fabric, Power BI, Python, Tableau) and AI tools (Copilot, GenAI LLMs, Azure AI Foundry); ability to train others is desirable.
