Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Data Management team in the formation and execution of the Bank’s data management framework, processes and standards. The Assistant Analyst will support the implementation of data management tooling, such as Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), and the development and maintenance of data management artefacts such as business glossary, data dictionaries, data standards and data quality profiling using that tooling.
Background
Data Management (DM) is a shared-service team working with Business Partners and Business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from departments across the Bank. DM’s core role is to be the centre of excellence for all data-related matters promoting best practice data management at the EBRD and providing data on EBRD activity that is readily available, easy to access and trusted as reliable to support analysis and decision-making at the EBRD.
DM achieves this through the implementation and management of effective processes and procedures to govern data quality and through the delivery of effective reporting and analytic solutions in support of business needs. DM provides expert guidance and support to departments across the Bank in relation to all aspects of data management including capture of end-user requirements, data extraction and report development in support of analytical queries, recommendation for IT enhancements and business process re-engineering with the aim of minimising or eliminating re-work and optimising staff effectiveness.
Scale
- Provide data management support to around 3,500 employees across the Bank.
- Administer 500+ EBRD Glossary items and 150+ data standards in the Bank’s data management tools.
- Internal interfaces/relationships with all teams across the EBRD, mainly at data owner / process owner level i.e. Associate Director, Principal and Associate level;
- No budgetary responsibility; no direct reports.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
The Assistant analyst will support the implementation of data management tooling, such as Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud, by:
- Classifying EBRD’s business assets in the data management tool, ensuring appropriate labelling, ownership and linkage to metadata lineage.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and peers to understand their data needs and progress the development of EBRD Glossary and Data Standards to cover their data domain.
- Implementing data quality and governance standards using the data management tooling based on the specifications provided by the stakeholder. This includes setting up data quality rules, monitoring data quality metrics, and ensuring compliance.
- Maintaining the data management artefacts, updating the business glossary and data standards as required to reflect changes in definitions and other key details due to evolving business requirements.
- Collaborating with other business units to identify critical data elements, ensuring they are aligned with data governance standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge
- Elementary knowledge of data management capabilities particularly data governance principles, data analysis and data quality controls is preferred but not essential.
- Basic understanding of EBRD as an organisation and its activities.
Experience
- 0 to 1 year work experience in any field but with keen interest in data management as a discipline and related activities.
Skills
- Basic skills in data management tools such as Informatica Intelligent Data Management Catalogue (IDMC) preferred but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and client-oriented.
- Self-motivated, focused, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently to deadlines are essential.
- Ability to work with a degree of autonomy, but also a good team player.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or international equivalent or equivalent experience, preferably in Data Science, Information Management or the finance industry with good knowledge of investment banking.
