Purpose of Job

The Analyst is a member of the Regional Policy and Strategy team (RPS) of the Policy Strategy and Delivery (PSD) Department within the Vice Presidency Policy & Partnerships.

The Analyst, RPS, provides support to the Deputy Director, Country Economics and to the regional economists and analysts in the field on macroeconomic and structural reform analysis and policy advice, and coordination of economic analysis, briefings and other related tasks across all countries of operations. The analyst will be based in EBRD HQ in London and will report to the Deputy Director, Country Economics.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Analysing macroeconomic developments and progress on structural reforms;
  • Assisting regional economists and analysts in maintaining the team’s databases on the region;
  • Coordinating and drafting contributions for the team’s regular publications, including the country briefing notes, Regional Economic Prospects, Transition Report country pages, etc;
  • Coordinating regular growth forecasts and long-term macroeconomic scenarios to be used in the financial models by the Banking department;
  • Providing input for presentations to be delivered in the Bank and to outside audiences;
  • Assisting the Deputy Director, Country Economics, in developing, drafting and coordinating position papers, policy notes and briefings.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics or a closely related field or Bachelor’s degree in economics and several years of relevant experience in the field;
  • Relevant experience in an EBRD region is a plus;
  • The ability to show initiative and take the lead on certain tasks is essential;
  • Strong analytical background in economic programming and policies;
  • Experience in working with economic datasets and knowledge of statistical software packages;
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including knowledge of Excel;
  • Advanced level of numeracy skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is essential; knowledge of a local language from the EBRD regions is an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams;
  • Motivation, attention to detail, common sense, ability to work within tight deadlines;
  • Ability to operate sensitively and effectively in a multicultural environment;
