Alternatives, Inc. in Somerset, NJ is looking to hire a Part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support adults with disabilities. We pay a competitive wage of $20.75/hr ($2/hour supplemental pay on weekends). A Day in the Life of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver: As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you help adults with developmental disabilities live as independently as possible. You ensure the comfort and safety of each client and assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments. You implement individual behavioral plans, teach new skills, and help clients participate in community outings and recreational activities. You encourage client interests and drive them to community activities, and you report health and safety concerns with accurate documentation. Some aspects of this job are not easily accomplished, but knowing your clients are happy at the end of each shift makes the work worthwhile.
Work Schedule: We operate 24-hour residential group homes with shift options including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Day Shifts: 7 am – 3 pm
- Evening Shifts: 3 pm – 11 pm
- Overnight Shifts: 11 pm – 9 am

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
- Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
- Basic computer skills
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required.
