Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Structural Drafter role based at EAPL’s head office in Chatham. The Structural Drafter will prepare and revise detailed structural drawings and shop drawings for marine and industrial projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering standards and project specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Interpreting engineers’ and architects’ designs
- Producing technical and architectural drawings
- Developing 2D and 3D models using CAD and BIM tools
- Coordinating with structural engineers, project managers, and architects to resolve drawing issues
- Incorporating design changes and supporting project delivery timelines
- Assisting with document control and maintaining drawing registers
- Contributing to continuous improvement of drafting standards and templates
Qualifications
- Proficiency in preparing Shop Drawings for structural and fabrication purposes, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and constructability
- Strong Technical Drawing skills, including 2D drafting and detailing using REVIT software for structural components and assemblies
- Interpreting Architectural Drawings, ensuring coordination between architectural and structural design requirements
- Understanding of Structural Engineering concepts to translate engineering calculations and mark ups into precise, buildable drawings
- Proven experience in structural steel, drafting/detailing (1 year Minimum)
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and effective communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in marine, industrial, or heavy engineering environments is beneficial
