University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is recruiting experienced faculty to teach graduate-level courses at U.S. military installations in Europe and Asia. The initial posting is for the Lakenheath, United Kingdom location. Faculty will be assigned to an overseas region (Europe, Asia, or Downrange) and may be required to relocate within the region during the appointment.
Responsibilities
- Teach a minimum of two class sections per session in UMGC’s 8-week, 5-session academic calendar.
- Deliver instruction in any modality: face-to-face, hybrid, online, or live-streaming.
- Actively engage students, motivate learning, and facilitate collaboration.
- Provide rich, regular constructive feedback, utilize rubrics for assessment, and acknowledge student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate current subject-matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Adhere to UMGC’s Code of Civility, work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and the local community.
- Participate in peer mentorship, committee service, curriculum development, and community outreach activities.
- Accept course and location assignments and be prepared to travel or relocate within the region as required.
- Meet all DoD medical/dental screening, background check, and individual logistic support (ILS) requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution; doctorate preferred.
- Recent college-level teaching experience.
- Teaching approvals or experience in more than one discipline preferred.
- U.S. citizenship or eligibility for individual logistic support in host countries.
- Favorable background check and authorized for DoD security clearance.
- Capability to travel, relocate, and work independently in a military overseas environment.
- Experience with online, hybrid, or distance education acceptable.
