Adjunct Faculty, Humanities – Undergraduate School – Europe (Lakenheath, UK)
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in the United Kingdom for the Humanities program.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Humanities or related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional experience in Humanities or related field.
- Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred.
- Local applicants only. Adjunct faculty positions are not eligible for UMGC sponsored logistical support.
- Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys genuine enthusiasm.
- Guide students in active collaboration and the application of learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide rich, regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics for assessment of student work and acknowledging student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.

Lakenheath, United Kingdom (on‑site).
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $903 – $1,215 per credit hour (Step 1 – Step 16) depending on degree level (Non‑PhD vs. PhD).
- Adjuncts are eligible for State of Maryland benefits only; they are responsible for the total cost if enrolled.
- Insurance options: Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment.
- Supplemental retirement plans: 403(b), 457(b), various Roth options; no matching funds.
- Health coverage: medical, vision, dental, and prescription plans for individuals and families effective from the first of the month following hire date.
