Job Description
Health & Safety
- Assist the EHS Manager with the implementation of the site's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).
- Conduct risk assessments and assist departments with implementing appropriate control measures.
- Perform inspections and audits to verify compliance with legislation and internal procedures.
- Support the investigation of accidents, near misses and incidents, validating evidence and ensuring timely close-out of actions. Assist with sharing lessons learned across relevant teams.
- Support departments in developing and maintaining Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs), ensuring they are suitable, sufficient, and regularly reviewed in line with operational needs and legal requirements.
- Manage COSHH assessments and ensure the safe use and storage of hazardous substances.
- Maintain up-to-date EHS documentation and records, including training logs, risk assessments, and inspection findings.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of Safety Days and internal safety campaigns to drive engagement across all departments.
Environment
- Support the site’s compliance with environmental legislation and internal standards (e.g. waste management, air emissions, spill control).
- Log and follow up on environmental near misses, observations, and improvement actions.
- Assist with site environmental objectives and initiatives (e.g. energy reduction, water savings, waste segregation).
- Help monitor site environmental aspects and impacts in line with ISO 14001 and corporate requirements.
- Support with environmental data collection and reporting, including contributing to group-level sustainability metrics and site performance reviews.
Training & Communication
- Deliver or arrange site EHS inductions and mandatory training courses for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate records of training, competencies and refresher schedules.
- Liaise with external training providers where specialist courses are required.
- Support two-way communication across the site, ensuring employees are kept informed of EHS updates and changes.
- Produce and share safety communications including alerts, newsletters, posters and toolbox talk content.
