Main Purpose of the Position

A full, valid clean driving licence, with a minimum of 4 years driving experience is required.

To provide overall management of the fleet team which includes a Coordinator and a team of drivers to ensure efficient co-ordinate of fleet movements within the defined delivery area to maximise utilisation and profitability. Having responsibility for offering corporate, leisure and prestige customers a 7 day operation including offering a call out (out of hours) service.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Fleet Maintenance and Management:

* Ensure regular maintenance and repair of vehicles.

* Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.

* Manage vehicle inspections and certifications to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Operational Efficiency:

* Optimise fleet utilisation to reduce operational costs.

* Implement and monitor fleet management software to track vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and other metrics.

* Enforce fleet policies and procedures.

Budget Management:

* Monitor and control expenditures related to vehicle maintenance, fuel, and other fleet-related expenses.

* Analyse cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses.

Compliance and Safety:

* Ensure all fleet operations comply with company policy.

* Develop and implement safety programs and training for drivers.

* Investigate and address any accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles.

Staff Management:

* Recruit, train, and supervise staff and other fleet personnel.

* Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching

* Address any disciplinary issues and resolve conflicts within the team.

* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance procedures.
