The group employs over 1,100 people with 16 sales and customer services sites across the UK and Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland, plus Europa’s own teams in Belgium, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, China, India, the UAE and South Africa.

We are looking for..

A Strategic Business Development Manager to be responsible for a designated region (Midlands). Your role focus will be to drive new business activity by generating leads, engaging with prospects, creating appropriate rates, submitting proposals, and securing bookings with new customers.

What you will be doing as Strategic Business Development Manager:

  • Identify and connect with potential customers, maintaining a focused pipeline of up to 100 high-potential leads
  • Schedule meetings, create tailored rate proposals, and manage all necessary documentation including credit and trading contracts.
  • Present proposals, secure initial bookings, and smoothly hand over accounts to the Customer Service branch
  • Work closely with internal teams and provide regular updates on sales progress, pipeline status, and any challenges
  • Provide clear and comprehensive account details to the RM to ensure smooth handover and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Regularly update the RM on sales progress, pipeline status, and any challenges faced during the sales process.

Our Ideal Strategic Business Development Manager:

A target-driven and results-oriented sales professional with strong interpersonal and organisational skills. This person will be:

  • Customer-focused: Skilled at identifying and engaging high-potential prospects, understanding their needs, and tailoring proposals accordingly.
  • Organised and disciplined: Able to manage a structured pipeline of up to 100 prospects, prioritising quality over quantity.
  • Commercially astute: Capable of generating leads, preparing customised rate proposals, and navigating credit and contract processes.
  • Persuasive and confident: Comfortable presenting proposals and securing initial bookings from clients.
  • Collaborative: Works effectively with internal teams (CS Supervisor, Branch Manager, RM) to ensure smooth account transitions and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Sales-astute: Proven sales acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets in a competitive environment.
  • Knowledgeable in logistics or freight sales (preferred): Especially familiar with full truckload (FTL) operations and customer classifications (Class A*, A, B)
