We have an opportunity, within our Purchasing team, for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual. This is a role where you will support all aspects of the purchasing relationship between CIH and specified suppliers and to find new business opportunities in your sector. You will be directly responsible for your categories which collectively contribute to the company turnover. You will also be required to identify through market research and industry analysis new opportunities in order to grow and expand your sector. You will be required to participate in any company projects representing your sector. This role would suit someone with buying or product management experience and particularly where you have negotiated with suppliers and had responsibility for forecasting and planning. You will be able to provide some analytical data to support decision making. It is important you have the ability to communicate effectively with the confidence to influence and engage at all levels. Some occasional travel will be required within the UK and occasionally overseas and a clean driving license is essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Managing effective supplier relationships and acting as their primary point of contact
- Negotiating annual trading terms in collaboration with senior leaders
- Reviewing and agreeing ranges with suppliers and key stakeholders
- Approving purchase orders and ensuring stock targets are achieved
- Leading category forecasting and weekly stock planning
- Maintaining an up to date promotional calendar with suppliers
- Supporting Trade Show and Showcase planning and approvals
- Managing pricing for central stock, agency and direct models
- Building strong relationships with CIH Members and representing the Purchasing team
- Preparing and delivering presentations for a range of business audiences
- Monitoring market pricing to ensure competitiveness
- Representing CIH at Euronics meetings when required
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- At least two years of buying, retail or product management experience with responsibility for your own suppliers
- Experience negotiating terms, analysing competitor activity and presenting findings
- Strong forecasting and planning capability
- Confidence using Excel to an advanced level and PowerPoint to an intermediate level
- Proven negotiation experience
- The ability to motivate and develop others
- A proactive approach and confidence communicating at all levels
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Desirable experience:
- Interest in consumer electronics
- SAP knowledge

Combined Independents (Holdings) Limited (CIH) is a not for profit buying group which is owned and governed by our membership (~450 independent high street electrical retail specialists based throughout the UK with over 600 outlets) and in 2023 celebrated our 60th year. In many cases, our membership are family run businesses, some of which have been established for several generations, and part of many local communities and high streets that come together as part of a buying group. All of our CIH membership have the opportunity to be a part of our network of “Euronics Agents” and as such can operate by utilising the brand name Euronics, as well as trading to the public through CIH owns two purpose-built distribution centres, one in Tankersley to service the north and one in Andover to service the south, working closely with a dedicated warehouse and distribution partner at each centre. All of our colleagues are employed through CIH and are made up of experts in finance, HR, IT, logistics, ecommerce, marketing, and purchasing.
