Are you ready to shape the future of the European power market? We are looking for a Senior Sales Manager – Power Derivatives to join Nord Pool as we expand our power derivatives offering to Western and Central Europe, with Germany as our first priority market. Nord Pool has been at the forefront of European power markets for more than 30 years. Building on our established position in physical power markets and the successful development of our power derivatives offering in the Nordic region, we are now entering the next phase of our growth journey and are looking for an experienced energy-market sales professional to help drive this expansion.

This is an opportunity to play a central role in building Nord Pool's presence in one of Europe's most important and sophisticated energy markets. The position can be based in London, Paris, Amsterdam or in Germany. You are expected to travel approximately 30% of the time, primarily across Western and Central Europe, to be close to the markets and to build relationships with clients, relevant stakeholders and communities.

The Role

As Senior Sales Manager – Power Derivatives, you will drive the commercial expansion of Nord Pool's power derivatives offering across Western and Central Europe, with an initial focus on the German market. The role combines business development, client relationship management and market/product development. You will be responsible for identifying and converting new opportunities, developing existing relationships and using your understanding of European power markets to help shape Nord Pool's offering and market strategy.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the full sales cycle, from identifying and approaching prospective customers through to commercial negotiation, contracting and onboarding.
  • Acquire new customers and grow participation in Nord Pool's power derivatives market across Germany and, over time, wider Western and Central Europe.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key existing clients, identifying opportunities to increase engagement and expand Nord Pool's offering.
  • Build and leverage a strong network across the energy and financial trading community, including utilities, energy traders, banks, commodity houses, proprietary trading firms, brokers and other market participants.
  • Act as an ambassador for and represent Nord Pool at industry conferences, trade fairs and customer events to build awareness and credibility.
  • Engage with customers and market participants to understand their trading requirements, market developments and emerging trends, and translate this insight into opportunities for product development and commercial growth.
  • Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Product Management, Market Operations and other commercial teams, to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Nord Pool's market-entry and commercial strategy for Central Europe.

You ideally bring:

  • A degree in business, economics, engineering, energy or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development or client relationship management within the energy or financial markets.
  • Strong knowledge of European power markets, ideally with direct experience of power derivatives, futures or other financial energy products.
  • An established network within the European energy trading community.
  • Existing relationships with potential customers in Germany and/or Central Europe would be a strong advantage.
  • A proven ability to manage the full commercial sales cycle, from prospecting and relationship development through to negotiation and closing.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and turn market insight into business growth.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage credibly with senior decision-makers.
  • Fluency in English - additional European languages are highly valued.
  • An independent, structured and analytical approach, combined with energy, ambition, curiosity and a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across different cultures and organisations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new technology and systems.

  • A key role in the international expansion of Nord Pool's power derivatives business.

  • An international working environment with short communication lines and a collaborative culture.
