Job Overview

  • Job Title: Desktop Support Technician
  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Schedule: Mondays – Fridays (Full-time on-site)
  • Site: Broughton – Single Aisle STG 01
  • Language: Fluent in English
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Contract Type: Freelance
  • Driver's License: Full UK driving licence required

Main Responsibilities

  • Support end‑user technical issues for desktop PCs, laptops, thin clients, tablets, smartphones, printers, MFDs and network connectivity.
  • Provide 2nd line IT support within agreed service level agreements.
  • Administer infrastructure functions and perform onsite shift coverage.
  • Handle remote site support and out‑of‑hours coverage as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, image computers, backup and restore settings, and perform system administration tasks.
  • Document and track all support requests using the ticketing system, maintaining up‑to‑date status.
  • Move equipment and maintain asset inventory in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Provide end‑user training on hardware and software usage.
  • Recommend and perform device upgrades as needed.
  • Work effectively in both business‑as‑usual and project‑based environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, ServiceNow.
  • Experience with MS Active Directory user and group administration.
  • Familiarity with printers, handhelds, smartphones and related peripherals.

Business Skills

  • Excellent customer‑service orientation with polite, efficient, and responsive communication.
  • Self‑starter with initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Desired Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in desktop and workstation support.
  • Experience with printers, remote control tools and video conferencing.
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure projects and upgrades.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel and calendaring tools.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to support a diverse staff.
  • Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and background security check required.
