Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide chemical testing in line with current approved and validated methods with respect to all facets of Eurofins Business.

Working Hours

This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 till 17:00.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of food samples for testing.
  • Perform chemical analysis on food samples.
  • Ensure the testing of samples is carried out within agreed timescales and with strict adherence to written methods and procedures.
  • Ensure a record of all tests are recorded and undertaken.
  • Take part in verification and quality checks as required and assure all information recorded and acted upon.
  • Take part in External and Internal Quality Assurance schedules in order to assure competency and complete all associated documentation for participation as directed by the manager.
  • Chemical Preparation.
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner, including the removal of waste from the laboratory.
  • Maintain stock levels of consumable items for methods being undertaken.
  • Report any unsafe or poor working practices in the lab.

Qualifications

  • Higher National Certificate, or equivalent, or proven working relevant experience.
  • Be familiar with and proven proficient in Chemical Testing and interpretation of results.
  • Be familiar with the wider aspects of food chemistry.
  • Understanding analytical processes to produce systems that will facilitate laboratory throughput whilst improving quality.
  • Have a working knowledge of UKAS principles for Laboratory Accreditation to ISO17025.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate, ability to use Word and Excel to Intermediate Level.
