Chemtest is part of Eurofins; we are an award winning company providing routine analytical services and bespoke specialist testing throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. Our staff are employed across a number of strategically placed locations, all utilising the latest technologies. Our laboratories are UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and, where applicable the Environment Agency MCERTS Performance Standard for soils.

Job Description Duties:

  • Preparation of samples as identified from work schedules
  • Enter results onto LIMS to assist with the generation of accurate and timely data in line with client expectations and UKAS standards
  • Interpretation of chromatographic data
  • Assistance in the maintenance of QC and sample data in an accurate and ordered manner in compliance with Eurofins Chemtest quality systems.
  • Assistance in maintenance programmes for the Departments specific analytical instrumentation and any other analytical equipment used by the Department.
  • Maintenance procedures shall ensure that instruments are kept in a clean and serviceable condition and that routine in house maintenance procedures are kept up to date.
  • Maintenance, storage and labelling of adequate stocks of reagents and standards.
  • Solve basic problems with laboratory tests and consult with the Divisional Manager when turnaround deadlines cannot be met with reasons and proposals to remedy the problem.
  • Consultation with the Divisional Manager when insufficient resources are available to fulfill the duties of the Department.

Responsibilities:

  • To work in a professional and safe manner
  • To advise others to work in a professional and safe manner
  • To ensure that the laboratory areas and work surfaces are free from clutter, and any spillages on the bench, floor and especially the instruments are immediately cleaned up.
  • To assist others in the performance of their duties if trained in that area of operation and if time allows.
  • To ensure that samples are returned to the appropriate storage area after testing
  • Maintaining confidentiality
  • To comply with all the Health and Safety and ISO14001 requirements of your role, and perform any other reasonable duties as required by the Eurofins Chemtest Business.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree/HNC or equivalent – Science
  • 6 months relevant work experience – minimum

Skills/Experience:

  • Organisational skills
  • Familiarity with relevant instrumentation (particular to each department)
  • PC literate – Basic
  • Relevant analytical experience
  • Numerical & verbal reasoning
