This is a full time, permanent position, working a flexible 36.5 hour week, Monday – Friday. As a Lead Scientist you will lead and manage an off-site Professional Scientific Staffing (PSS) team of analytical staff to ensure that team is operating at the highest quality and productivity standards, have high morale and retention, and the agreed customer requirements are entirely satisfied.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will coordinate and lead the PSS team to maximise productivity, quality, documentation accuracy, safety, housekeeping and overall operational efficiency in line with Eurofins standards.
  • You will ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining GMP compliance, addressing queries, supporting audits and investigations, and continuously reviewing and improving commercial and quality practices.
  • You will develop and support your team through coaching, performance management, training oversight, cross‑training, morale building and effective communication of expectations and changes.
  • You will oversee documentation and analytical activities by reviewing/approving records, performing routine and non‑routine analysis, troubleshooting, preparing reports and ensuring data meets GMP and customer requirements.
  • You will manage operational planning and resources by scheduling work, maintaining equipment and supplies, planning ahead with the customer, addressing audit findings and ensuring laboratory readiness at all times.
  • You will monitor performance and drive improvement by collecting productivity metrics, presenting performance updates, identifying efficiency opportunities and ensuring uniform, reliable and customer‑focused work practices.

Qualifications:

  • You will hold a degree in Chemistry or a related discipline, with strong fundamental chemical knowledge and relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical development.
  • You will have expertise in analytical techniques including HPLC, UV spectroscopy and chromatographic methods, along with previous responsibility for approving valid analytical measurements.
  • You will have a solid understanding of GMP requirements, the ability to learn new processes quickly and confidence working with fully electronic systems such as MS Office.
  • You will hold strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to guide teams, solve problems proactively and work independently while contributing effectively to team‑based solutions.
  • You will have excellent communication abilities to build strong working relationships internally and externally, supported by accuracy, organisation and high‑quality documentation skills.
  • You will hold a flexible, quality‑driven mindset with a passion for customer service, the ability to switch priorities at short notice and a commitment to Eurofins standards of reliability and performance.
