Working for Eurofins Genomics as a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing analytical laboratory work, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data, and maintaining high standards of laboratory practice following ISO15189 and ISO17025 requirements.
Please note this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:00 till 17:30. Training shift pattern for the first 2 weeks will be Monday - Friday, 07:30-15:30.
- Perform analytical laboratory tasks, including sample reception, quality control, normalization of samples, PCR preparations, Micro Array and analysis procedures.
- Accurately handle and record analytical source data, ensuring proper insertion into Eurofins systems (Worksheets, LIMS, and QMS).
- Prepare DNA and Master mix reagents, ensuring precision and consistency.
- Prepare worksheets for daily laboratory work, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct weekly inventory checks and manage laboratory supplies.
- Manage sample reception, shipment, storage, and disposal ensuring respect and dignity for the samples handed.
- Perform quality control on sample and prepare samples for analysis.
- Report and log any laboratory issues in the system and inform the Team Leader/Management promptly.
- Contribute to the preparation and implementation of safety procedures within the laboratory.
- Control, maintain, and clean laboratory, equipment and areas.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biomedical Science).
- Understanding of Microarray and NGS is essential for this role.
- Understanding of laboratory practices, laboratory safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment (academic or industrial).
- Knowledge of ISO15189 and ISO17025 quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to follow procedures meticulously.
- Good communication skills both written and spoken.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.
