Lextox is a UKAS accredited laboratory based in Cardiff, providing drug, alcohol, and DNA testing services for family law cases and childcare proceedings.

We have a vacancy for a Sample Collector / Phlebotomist to join our Sample Collections team in Scunthorpe and surrounding areas, on an AD HOC/casual basis. Candidates must be professionally qualified Phlebotomists, have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques (predominantly vacutainer and butterfly), and be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings.

Collection payment: £48.67 per collection

Contract Type: Zero hours – as and when required (AD-HOC). Most collection appointments are planned within normal business hours.

The Role:

  • Attending pre-booked appointments at various locations generally within a 2-hour radius from your home address.
  • Providing a professional hair, nail, blood, and DNA sample collection service.
  • Maintaining and developing excellent relationships with clients and donors as the public face of Lextox.
  • Implementing the requirements of the company Quality Management System and helping maintain ISO17025 accreditation.
  • Ensuring that all collections are undertaken safely following the required operating procedure.
  • Providing statements to support legal proceedings at the point of sample collection.
  • Completion of all company mandated training.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and MUST have own access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Phlebotomy, post qualification (proof of Phlebotomy competency may be requested).

This role is subject to regular enhanced DBS checks.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working within the NHS / Blood Service.
  • Experience in collecting hair and DNA samples (in-house training is provided for this aspect of the role).

Additional Information:

  • Initial training will be carried out at Lextox office, but the role will ultimately be home-based.
  • Successful applicants will be paid on a per collection basis only, plus appropriate travel expenses will be paid, including fuel, parking fees, and sample postage.
  • Collections assignments will generally be primarily at either a solicitor’s office, local authority office, or donor’s home; appropriate PPE will be provided for use as required.
  • For this position, the role will involve the taking of blood samples, where Hepatitis B vaccination is required.
