Job Description

The purpose of this role is to overlook the Sample Receipt, Sample Registration, Sample Preparation, Subcontract Testing & Internal Supply Chain departments.

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 08:00 till 16:00.

  • Daily managementsamples,sample registration andpreparation to nominated service levels.
  • Maintain relevant levels of performance ensuring agreed daily targets are achieved.
  • Primary knowledge holder of customs requirements to enable the timely despatch of samples from Wolverhampton to worldwide testing labs.
  • Maintain relevant management reporting and KPI’s providing status at a glance across all performance areas.
  • Define and implement timely corrective actions where targets are not being met.
  • Manage and direct subordinates to achieve nominated daily targets.
  • Manage all performance areas in compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures including the provision and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities across all performance areas.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions in relation to Non-Conforming Work.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service and care.
  • Management of preferred partner testing laboratories through agreed KPI’s and monthly reviews.
  • Management and governance of internal and external food chemistry sample storage locations.
  • Maintain tracking records always detailing the location of samples.
  • Supervise and direct subordinates to achieve agreed daily targets.
  • Monitoring customer sales performance through the completion of monthly sales analysis and reporting.
  • Reviewing and maintaining ownership of 5S standards within the Chemistry department's chilled and frozen storage areas, including both internal and external storage locations.
  • Liaising with Procurement to identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities for shared consumable items across the Wolverhampton site.
  • Monitoring and managing charges associated with shared courier and analysis costs across the Eurofins network to ensure accuracy and appropriate cost allocation.
  • Receipting purchase orders and monitoring costs relating to testing subcontracted outside of the Eurofins Group.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and amending customer quotations where testing requirements have changed due to amendments made by partner laboratories, ensuring quotations remain accurate and commercially aligned.
  • Develop, implement and report KPI’s providing end to end visibility of sample flow.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Involvement in investigation and root cause analysis in relation to Non-Conforming Work.
  • Work in accordance with standards of quality and the requirements of ISO17025.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
  • Primary knowledge holder of customs requirements to enable the timely despatch of samples from Wolverhampton to worldwide testing labs.

Qualifications

  • Proven capability to manage teams in a fast-moving production environment.
  • Skilled in defining, implementing and managing performance levels through Daily KPI’s and performance boards.
  • Capable of implementing a high standard of 5S.
  • Skilled in structured problem solving, RCCA and continuous improvement.
  • Capable of value stream mapping complex processes.
  • Experience in exporting and managing logistics partners.
  • Capable of managing complex projects.
  • Science or Business Degree or equivalent professional learning/development.
  • IOSH Qualification.
  • Knowledge in documented quality systems.
  • Able to perform a risk assessment, develop control measures, and manage risk.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to effectively manage team, customer and stakeholder relationships.
