The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

Working hours are as follows:

  • Week 1: Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri - 08:30 - 17:00
  • Week 2: Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Sun - 11:00 - 19:30 and Saturday, 08:30 - 17:00
  • Week 3: Sun, Tues, Weds, Thurs and Friday - 08:30 - 17:00
  • Week 4: Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri - 11:00 - 19:30

As a Laboratory Technician you will carry out basic microbiological practices which contribute to the production of reliable and accurate test results. You will provide support over a wide area of tasks and requirements to microbiologists and lead microbiologists.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing food samples for incubation as per your trained areas.
  • Assisting in the preparation of microbiological culture media and recording the necessary quality control and performance checks.
  • Providing general assistance to Laboratory Staff at all levels.
  • Carrying out housekeeping duties in line with Cleaning Schedules and other documents as required (including cleaning of equipment, floors, bins and benches when required).
  • Carrying out all washroom duties as required being mindful of the glassware requirements.
  • Disposing of all laboratory waste in accordance with procedures.
  • Reporting any unsafe or poor working practices in the laboratory.

These task sheets can never be all encompassing and hence flexibility to task is required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the routine workings of a Laboratory Environment and the importance of a clean lab.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate, ability to use Word and Excel to basic level.
