Job Description
37.5 Hours per week. One year fixed term contract. Monday to Friday. 08:00-16:00.
Purpose of the post:
- Managing all operations of the water laboratory, ensuring that the laboratory remains accredited to ISO 17025, extend the scope of accreditation, and grow & develop the laboratory business.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
- Ensure the laboratory maintains and develops its ISO 17025 accreditation standards.
- Manage laboratory staff, including recruitment, training, performance management and development.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee laboratory projects to ensure they are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Monitor laboratory workload, resources and staffing levels to meet customer deadlines.
- Manage budgets, costs and profitability of laboratory activities.
- Ensure all quality, health and safety and compliance requirements are met.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration programmes and laboratory audits.
- Investigate non-conformances, complaints and quality issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Analyse operational data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, accreditation bodies and other stakeholders.
- Represent the laboratory at meetings, audits, training events and industry functions.
- Support business growth through continuous improvement and development of laboratory services.
Qualifications
- Qualification in relevant discipline of science.
- Previous experience working within a laboratory and understands the importance of good laboratory practices.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Confident working with a variety of IT systems for example LIMS and Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
