This is a part time, permanent position, working Saturday & Sunday 07:00 - 15:00.

Purpose of the post: To complete, to the required quality standards, the preparation of samples for a given method. To assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. To share the vision of providing the best possible quality to ensure each sample is processed with precision and accuracy. Full training provided, no previous experience necessary.

  • Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
  • Preparing and dispensing consumables.
  • Undergo training and follow laboratory SOPs and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
  • Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
  • Perform calibrations, daily checks and other quality related tasks as required.
  • Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
  • Report any anomalies or concerns to direct report.
  • Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy.
  • Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Qualifications:

  • Maths, English, Science at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
  • Experience in a fast paced working environment.
  • Awareness of good laboratory practices.
  • Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook.
