Job Description

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

15 hours per week. Saturday and Sunday. 08:00 – 16:00.

Purpose of the Post

Responsible for the analysis of water tests through plate reading and confirmation techniques along with other routine tasks and supporting with sample preparation. Working closely with other departments to ensure testing timelines are met. Working in line with our Health, Safety and Quality procedure to deliver accurate results in a safe, clean environment.

  • Perform microbiological testing analysis, able to identify colony morphologies for all test types carried out by the department, including Legionella and a range of Bacti tests.
  • Complete further confirmatory work on suspect colonies where required.
  • Enter results into the Laboratory IT system and ensure correct result is calculated for reporting.
  • Work in line with our quality procedures to complete all aspects of your work.
  • Support with daily quality tasks such as calibration checks, Daily Process Controls, Internal and external quality checks and custody record completion. Adhere to the company protocols at all times.
  • Use the reports available to ensure work is entered at the correct time and any overdue is actioned appropriately where required.
  • Support with sample preparation, inclusive of sample filtration and pipetting amongst other tasks.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care by ensuring all results are delivered accurately and on time. Adhere to confidentiality agreements in place with our customers.
  • Collaborate with other team members and show flexibility to help meet demand and achieve the required turn around time ensuring results are reported on time.
  • Ensure working environment is kept clean and tidy.
  • Understand the concept of 5S and adhere to the principles set within your area. Along with following lean production standards.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task or responsibility requested by a senior manager.

Qualifications

  • Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent
  • Knowledge of microbiological testing methods and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the food or water sector.
  • Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good laboratory skills and practices
  • Enthusiastic and able to work efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • Good communication skills and a team Player
