The purpose of this post is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of genomics samples for a given method using laboratory techniques. Please note this is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hour shifts between the hours of 07:00 - 17:30 Monday to Friday.

  • Perform sample reception, quality control, normalization of samples, PCR preparations, procedures for analysis on the instrument and Micro Array procedures.
  • Handling and recording of accurate analytical source data, including insertion of these in Eurofins systems (Worksheets, LIMS and QMS).
  • Preparation of cDNA and Master mix reagents.
  • Manage sample reception, shipment, storage, and disposal ensuring respect and dignity for the samples handed.
  • Ensure documentation, training and ongoing training are logged and acknowledged before performing new tasks.
  • Inventory Management, conduct weekly inventory checks and manage laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain a clean as you go mentality in the laboratory, ensure the handling and removal of waste.
  • Ensure personal user training log is up to date and properly documented.
  • Contribute to the preparation of safety procedures.
  • Reporting any problems in the laboratory to the Team Leader.
  • Ensure all analytical tests and analysis are performed at a prominent level of quality and deliver reliable results within deadlines.
  • Ensure analysis is performed according to the company policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biomedical Science).
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment (academic or industrial).
  • Understanding of laboratory practices, laboratory safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of ISO15189 and ISO17025 quality standards.
  • Understanding of Microarray, NGS and other molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to perform analytical laboratory tasks (sample reception, QC, PCR setup, analysis).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to follow procedures meticulously.
  • Good organisational skills, including inventory management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.
