The purpose of this role is to be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant laboratory. This role oversees daily laboratory activities, provides training and support to staff, liaises with external vendors, and serves as the first point of contact for analyst queries. The supervisor ensures that all laboratory practices meet regulatory standards and company quality requirements.

Please note this is a full time role working 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday 09:00‑17:15 (4 days), 09:00‑17:30 (1 day).

  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the GMP laboratory.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP regulations, internal SOPs, and quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow, resource allocation, and equipment utilisation.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for laboratory analysts and technicians.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and technical guidance to staff.
  • Maintain training records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for analyst queries and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem‑solving support for laboratory methods and processes.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior management or quality assurance as needed.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of laboratory activities, results, and deviations.
  • Support audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and change controls when required.
  • Support with scheduling of team activities.
  • Support primary batch audits.
  • Technical and data review.
  • Support the resolution of quality issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis and quality risk assessments.
  • Support self‑inspections.
  • Support client audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Propose and implement continuous improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in life sciences is preferred with at least five years in a GMP‑or GLP‑regulated environment, and three years in a Chemistry role.
  • Without preferred qualification, at least seven years in a GMP‑or GLP‑regulated environment, and five years in a Chemistry role.
  • Excellent understanding of GMP.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, good judgement, and the ability to motivate others.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Quality consciousness with the ability to consistently work to industry standards.
  • Positive, methodical, tenacious, and innovative approach to work.
  • Very strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and competencies in the required chemistry techniques.
