Forensic Examiner - Toxicology

We are currently recruiting for a Forensic Examiner to join our fantastic Toxicology team at our site based in Heathrow. This is a truly exciting time to begin or continue your career with our first-class business. As a Forensic Examiner, you will be responsible for carrying out routine laboratory analyses, undertaking general housekeeping duties, and providing administrative support for the Toxicology team.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• You will be required to help maintain the laboratory by keeping the area clean and tidy following stringent anti-contamination procedures.
• Prepare and validate quality control material, maintain laboratory records, provide routine calibration and maintenance of equipment, and maintain consumable stocks.
• Assist with casework analysis by following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Health and Safety requirements.
• Ensure sample integrity and chain of custody, prepare casework samples for analysis, and undertake analyses using instrumentation such as HSGC-FID, GC-MS, GC-QQQ, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, and HRAM.
• Ensure analytical data conforms to quality standards and input data onto an internal case management system.
• Take an active role in continuous improvement throughout the team.

Qualifications:

• You must have a Chemistry degree or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, good planning and organisational skills.
• Adaptable, with a strong sense of accountability and integrity, able to work collaboratively with a team.
• Previous experience in Forensic Toxicology, sample preparation techniques, instrumentation and related software, and Microsoft Office would be beneficial.

• Ability to multitask and work to deadlines while managing a flexible workload and showing a high level of personal resilience.

Additional Information:

• This role will require the successful candidate to achieve NPPV3 + Security Clearance (SC). To be eligible, you must have 5 years’ continuous UK residency.
• As part of the vetting process, you’ll be asked to provide information about your background, including your employment and address history, financial circumstances and details of close family or partners.
• Factors such as criminal convictions, financial difficulties or associations that may pose a risk could affect your ability to gain clearance.
• Vetting is carried out by an external police vetting service.
• Drug and alcohol testing may be required before you start and during your employment.
• Ongoing employment is subject to maintaining the required level of clearance.
