About the Role
As a Tribe Test & Release Engineer within the GTS Continuous Integration Tribe, you will define and drive the Agile testing and release strategy, ensuring quality and reliability across all delivery streams. You will coordinate testing and release activities, support squads, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and automation.
Responsibilities
- Testing Management
- Define and implement the Agile testing policies and strategy (including functional and non-functional testing) for the Tribe.
- Coordinate and support squads in test planning, execution, and automation, ensuring alignment with organizational test policies.
- Maintain and extend test coverage, validate features, and ensure quality gates at story, feature, and release levels.
- Oversee test data governance and environment management.
- Review and report on test progress, product quality, and risks to Tribe leadership.
- Actively contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive and coordinate Tribe releases, ensuring timely and coherent delivery to production.
- Establish and communicate release calendars, scope, and plans.
- Assess and manage dependencies, risks, and post-launch activities.
- Promote and implement continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Collaborate with other Tribe Release Engineers and divisional release management to align on broader organizational objectives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Ability to craft comprehensive test strategies aligned with Agile delivery models, covering functional, non-functional, integration, regression, and performance testing with a risk-minded approach.
- Mastery of Agile methodologies and software development practices.
- Familiarity with security testing practices (e.g., vulnerability scanning, penetration testing) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to align testing and release strategies with business goals and release objectives.
- Strong experience in test management, automation, and release management.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure and technology stacks relevant to GTS.
- Knowledge of risk-based testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with tools such as TFS and ServiceNow.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Builds trust across teams and fosters a culture of quality and collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, conflicting priorities, and virtual teams.
- Leadership in driving workshops and cross-team collaboration.
- Experience in coordinating testing across multiple squads and tribes, managing dependencies and shared environments.
