This part-time (0.8FTE) post is available from October 2026 on a fixed term basis as a maternity cover. The starting salary will be from the bottom of Grade F, (pro-rata), depending on knowledge, skills and experience. Please note this role is subject to a DBS check.
At the University of Exeter, we are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all our staff to share this commitment. You will be expected to work until 7pm on some evenings and one weekend in four, 9-5pm.
This post will involve supporting the welfare team across the Streatham and St Lukes campus, where many students are enrolled on regulated programmes. This post plays a key part in the University's offering of pastoral and welfare support for students. You will act as the first point of contact on this evening shift, providing first response for students experiencing personal problems and difficulties, and will coordinate a response and provide support which is tailored to individual students' needs, signposting and referring to specialist support. This will include responding to mental health crises, liaising with other University staff and external agencies as appropriate.
You will sit within Wellbeing Services and report to the Welfare Pathway Lead, but your work will involve extensive networking and liaison with individuals in student residences, security services, academic colleges and across a range of other services. In addition to working directly with students, you will offer advice and support to other members of staff, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
