The predicted salary is between 34335 - 41965 £ per year.

This full-time post is available from October 2026 on a fixed term basis for 24 months. In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract. The starting salary will be from £33,951 on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. This role will be subject to additional background screening.

The University wishes to recruit a Technical Manager to take a key role in an MRC-funded project on the skin fungus Malassezia and its contribution to inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema. More specifically, the successful applicant will support and conduct research to define the interaction interface of Malassezia with the cutaneous immune system and dissect the fungal determinants underlying the induction of an allergic immune response against Malassezia using in vitro and in vivo models.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of microbiological techniques, immunological assays, microscopy, flow cytometry, sterile techniques/cell culture and animal model experimentation. They must also be able to demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with teams of researchers and must be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research.

The post holder will demonstrate an ability to undertake laboratory research, including ensuring safe working practices through training and risk assessments, managing inventories of materials and chemicals, and purchasing laboratory supplies.
