Field Photographer – Heritage Cemetery Project York, Leeds & North Yorkshire | Zero-hours | Start 12 October 2026
About the role
We're creating a digital record of churchyards and cemeteries across Yorkshire for a national heritage project. Families and historians will use it to trace burials and family history. You'll join a small local team and photograph headstones using a mobile app.
Responsibilities
- Travel to allocated churchyards and cemeteries near you
- Photograph every headstone clearly using the project app
- Upload your photos before leaving each site and check they've synced
- Report your sites and photo counts to the coordinator each day
- Work respectfully in places of remembrance
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- A recent smartphone: iPhone 16 or newer, or Samsung Galaxy S23 or newer (or an equivalent Android)
- A full UK driving licence and your own car (strongly preferred, as many sites are rural) or willingness to travel.
- Reliable and careful, and happy working outdoors in all weather
- No experience needed. Graduates welcome.
