Prototype Machinist / CNC Machinist / Toolroom Machinist position that would suit a Machinist that will enjoy working within a prototype / low volume / bespoke machined components environment. £36,000 to £42,000 salary commensurate with experience + benefits. Day shift only (normal working hours). Dynamic, growing business working at the forefront of manufacturing automation designing, building and commissioning machines. New facility scheduled to open in 2026 to support business growth.
This Prototype Machinist job will involve:
- Produce one-off prototype machined components to support the development of an innovative range of automation engineering projects, working from a variety of engineering materials including aluminium, tool steel, mild steel and acetal.
- Set, program, and operate 3-axis XYZ milling machines.
- Operate a manual lathe and other cutting/drilling/fabricating tools.
- Inspect parts for conformity before and after manufacturing.
- Working closely with Engineers to review engineering drawings.
- Routine care and maintenance of machines.
This Prototype Machinist job will suit:
- Previous experience of working as a Machinist or an engineering position that involves CNC machining.
- The position would suit a Machinist that would enjoy working within a one-off prototype / bespoke machined components environment.
- Experience of using manual machines including turning and milling.
- Experience of CNC milling.
- Be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- You will hold a recognised engineering qualification or apprenticeship or be able to demonstrate sufficient experience in lieu of qualifications.
