Fantastic and unique opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist who wants to develop and have a key position within a small reputable business.
Flexible working hours - 4 day week is possible - with optional overtime available. This is still a hands-on role with lots of variety.
We are working in partnership with an established precision engineering business who are looking to recruit a skilled CNC Programmer Setter Operator into the team as part of succession planning within the business. As they are a smaller team, we are looking to recruit someone who can wear a number of hats and take a senior approach to helping the business grow. This involves some customer interaction and just having a proactive approach and "a no job is too small" mentality. There is an element of supervising the Machinists, but they are experienced, so this is more around work allocation than man management.
Preferably you will come from a CNC turning background and be comfortable programming and using Fanuc / HAAS controlled machines. Batches are fairly low volume (a higher batch is c50 parts), so we do need someone from a strong programming background. CNC programming is currently done online, but there may be scope to acquire a CAM package if preferred.
Salary: £19.00 to £22.00 per hour as a guide. Hours: 40 hour week with flexible start / finish time. Some Machinists work a 4 day week (Mon - Thurs) if preferred. 25 days holiday + banks. Optional overtime available too. Healthcare provided.
The CNC Machinist job would suit:
- An experienced CNC Machinist who is skilled at setting and operating CNC machines for a range of projects. Any programming experience would be an advantage.
- Some exposure or experience on supervising / allocating projects to help organise the workshop.
- Comfortable using Fanuc and / or HAAS controls.
- Preferably from a CNC turning background. Milling experience would also be an advantage.
- Happy working within a small team and culturally aligned to help support across a range of wider tasks where required.
The CNC Machinist jobs working environment, opportunities and rewards:
- Effectively working as the second in command supporting the MD on CNC projects.
- Lots of flexibility around working hours / days with an excellent rate of pay.
- Small team of Machinists and we need someone with the personality and culture to suit this type of environment.
The CNC Machinist job will involve:
- Setting and operating CNC machines to machine a range of low batch components.
- Programming experience would be ideal.
- Working from a range of engineering drawings, occasionally communicating with the customers on projects too.
- Organising the workshop and allocating resources accordingly.
