Are you an experienced CNC Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer or Multi Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias? This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful UK specialist supplying CNC machine tools, CNC machinery and automation equipment to manufacturing customers across Yorkshire.
Based in the Yorkshire area, this CNC Service Engineer job offers a varied field-based role involving the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of CNC machine tools and automated machinery. You will use your electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge to diagnose and resolve faults involving CNC controls, PLCs, drives and motors, working directly with customers across the Yorkshire region.
With a strong basic salary, overtime paid door to door, quarterly bonus, company van, private healthcare and additional benefits, this is an opportunity for an experienced CNC Engineer / Service Engineer to join a well-established and highly professional engineering SME.
About the Company
The company is a respected UK-based specialist within the machine tools and CNC machinery sector, supporting manufacturing customers with the supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing service of CNC equipment and automation systems.
The business is based in the North of England and is experiencing continued success, creating an opportunity to strengthen its established Service and Technical team.
One of the key attractions of the business is its professional and well-organised approach to field service. Rather than simply reacting to customer requirements, work is planned and coordinated in advance wherever possible. Dedicated Coordinators help manage the workload across the service team, ensuring engineers are supported and that travel and customer visits are structured sensibly.
This makes the position particularly attractive to an engineer who enjoys field-based work but also values good planning, communication and support from the wider business.
The CNC Service Engineer Role
As a CNC Service Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting customers across Yorkshire, attending manufacturing sites to install, commission, maintain and repair CNC machine tools and associated automation equipment.
The role would suit an engineer who is technically strong, comfortable working independently at customer sites and confident fault finding on sophisticated industrial machinery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing and commissioning CNC machine tools and automation equipment at customer sites.
- Carrying out planned servicing, maintenance and technical support on CNC machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical and control-system faults.
- Fault finding on CNC controls, PLCs, drives, motors and associated electrical systems.
- Working with CNC control platforms including Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain.
- Identifying faults efficiently and implementing practical engineering solutions to minimise customer downtime.
- Supporting customers with technical issues and providing a professional service on site.
- Travelling to manufacturing and industrial customer sites throughout the Yorkshire region.
- Working alongside customers, colleagues and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
- Managing your workload and communicating clearly with the wider Service and Technical team.
- Representing the business professionally when working at customer premises.
The position is predominantly field based, so you will need to be comfortable travelling to different manufacturing environments throughout Yorkshire. Although you will work independently for much of the time, you will have the backing of a structured internal team and Coordinators who help organise workloads and customer visits.
What Experience Is Required?
This opportunity is likely to appeal to an experienced CNC Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Multi Skilled Engineer or similar engineering professional.
You should have a strong technical background and ideally a mechanical/electrical skill set with an electrical bias. Experience working with CNC machinery, automated equipment and industrial control systems will be particularly relevant.
You may currently work within CNC, machine tools, industrial automation or another technically related manufacturing environment. Experience gained within sectors such as automotive, food and process, distribution, packaging or similar manufacturing industries could also be highly transferable.
The successful CNC Service Engineer will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, CNC Engineer, CNC Service Engineer or Multi Skilled Engineer.
- Strong electrical engineering and fault-finding capability.
- Good mechanical engineering knowledge alongside your electrical skills.
- Experience working with CNC machinery or automated industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC control systems, CNC controls, drives and motors.
- Experience with control platforms such as Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain.
- The ability to diagnose faults logically and methodically.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- The confidence to work independently at customer manufacturing sites.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel throughout the Yorkshire region.
Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline would be useful, although relevant hands-on engineering experience is equally important.
Working Environment and Career Opportunity
This is a field-based engineering position within a successful SME that places importance on professional service delivery and effective planning.
You will be joining a business that is strengthening its Service and Technical function following a period of success. The structure of the organisation means engineers are supported by colleagues who coordinate jobs and help distribute work fairly across the team.
For the right person, this provides the opportunity to build a long-term career within a specialist engineering environment while working on a varied range of CNC machinery, machine tools and automation equipment.
The role also offers variety: rather than working on the same machinery in one location every day, you will visit different manufacturing customers and encounter a range of technical challenges.
Salary, Benefits and Package
The company is offering an excellent overall package, with the starting salary dependent on your experience and technical background.
The package includes:
- Competitive starting basic salary.
- Overall package of Β£50,000+.
- Overtime opportunities, with overtime paid door to door.
- Quarterly bonus scheme.
- Company van.
- Private healthcare.
- Wider company benefits.
- Well-planned and structured field service workload.
- Support from an experienced Service coordination team.
The combination of basic salary, overtime and quarterly bonus provides strong earning potential for an experienced CNC or Field Service Engineer.
Why Apply?
This CNC Service Engineer job in Yorkshire offers a strong combination of technical variety, earning potential and professional support.
You will be joining an established specialist engineering business where your experience with CNC machinery, electrical systems, automation and industrial controls will be valued. The role also provides the independence associated with field service engineering without leaving you isolated, thanks to the internal coordination and support structure.
It could be an excellent fit if you are looking for:
