Are you an experienced IT Manager or Infrastructure Manager looking for a hands-on role with broad technical exposure and the opportunity to shape infrastructure across both on-prem and cloud environments? This role offers the best of both worlds – a strong focus on in-house systems and virtualised environments, alongside growing investment in Azure and cloud platforms.
The business develops industry-leading automation and data management software used in R&D and testing environments – including fuel cells, batteries, propulsion systems and more. They support a globally distributed software development team and operate with agile principles, innovation, and a people-first culture.
Your background as an IT Manager:
- Proven experience managing on-premises infrastructure (Windows, Linux, VMware).
- Experience leading or mentoring a small IT team.
- Knowledge of networking – routing, firewalls, switches, VPNs, proxies.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure – ideally Azure (GCP is a bonus).
- Strong understanding of IT security principles and incident response.
- Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Degree-qualified or equivalent industry experience.
IT Manager responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of a small internal IT team.
- Maintain VMware-based virtual infrastructure and networking systems.
- Administer Windows and Linux servers, both on-premises and cloud-hosted.
- Manage laptop and desktop support, and liaise with external suppliers.
- Oversee internal network administration and performance.
- Support Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Contribute to cloud infrastructure (primarily Azure) and development environment support.
- Support software build and deployment tooling, CI/CD systems and DevOps platforms.
- Participate in cybersecurity awareness and internal security policies.
