An exciting new opening with an established and successful global enterprise based in Lincoln is looking to appoint a Commercial Director to help drive new business opportunities in the UK and globally. The ideal candidate will come from an industrial engineering background with a successful career within sales development and commercial strategy and growth.
Some of the key responsibilities will be to:
- Shape the overall product strategy and optimise the portfolio, ensuring effective planning and prioritisation across initiatives.
- Lead the creation of practical, insight-driven product roadmaps by gathering and aligning inputs from cross-functional partners with broader business goals.
- Guide market positioning efforts, including assessing and refining pricing approaches in response to competitive and market dynamics.
- Manage pricing strategy across the full product lifecycle.
- Maintain responsibility for the product line’s balanced scorecard and drive continuous improvement through well-defined action plans.
- Resolve operational challenges related to quality, production, and delivery performance.
- Proactively identify potential issues, communicate risks, propose corrective measures, act independently when needed, and report results.
- Own go-to-market planning and product roadmap execution for designated markets and offerings.
- Conduct market sizing and segmentation activities; contribute to the development and upkeep of market models, data sources, and tracking systems to monitor market evolution.
- Capture customer insights through needs assessments and voice-of-customer activities.
- Support revenue growth by strengthening and advancing the sales pipeline.
- Lead strategic market planning—both near-term and long-range—to maximise growth opportunities.
- Develop materials and analyses that inform strategic decisions related to organic and inorganic growth.
- Contribute to building and sustaining a structured competitive intelligence process.
- Identify and prioritise emerging legislative, competitive, and technological shifts, providing insight into associated opportunities and risks.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with teams including R&D, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations to drive growth and execution.
The successful candidate:
- Background within industrial engineering, polymers, coatings or similar.
- More than 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience, including 5+ years successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated excellence in financial modelling, pricing strategy, and long-range strategic planning.
- Proven business development leadership, ideally within the composites or polymers industries, with a record of driving sustainable growth.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and CSR platforms to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional change leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Significant global business experience and a strong track record of leading effectively across diverse cultures and markets.
