AA Euro has been retained by its client who are a Power & Renewables specialist to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team working on projects in the Glasgow area. This is a permanent role that will cover substations and power projects in general. The role will require elements of travel around the Glasgow region as projects require.
The Role
- In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:
- Identify, undertake and manage key detailed design tasks
- Initiate and manage the sub-contracting of specialist design / studies
- Ensure that technical issues are identified and resolved without delay
- Review quotations for the supply of material to confirm adequacy and technical suitability
- Be aware of, manage and mitigate commercial risk to the company
- Process internal procurement from equipment enquiries, requisitioning & monitoring manufacture through to delivery to site whilst maintaining a comprehensive audit trail
- Prepare technical submittals for approval to the client, coordinating inputs from other parties where required
- Work with the project PM, civil engineer and QS to prepare sub-contract packages
- Attend & record regular supply chain and project progress meetings to ensure that progress is monitored & maintained within the overall construction programme
- Liaise with the project team & supply chain to ensure correct operation of the plant on site & successful handover
- Monitor & record project progress against the construction programme
- Compare Tender drawings to Construction drawings and advise of any changes
- Work closely with the relevant PM to ensure that all variations are notified to the project QS
- Ensure that the Clients management tools are updated as set out in the contract documentation
- Prepare and hand over all relevant documentation in the form of a safety file at the end of each project
- Undertake testing, fault investigation, diagnostic activities and rectification of faults within your competence
- Provide technical support and direction, within your competence, to the T&D Project Team members, including the application of technical standards
- Work with the project team to prepare design risk assessments as required contractually and under legislation and provide technical input, where required, of method statements & all aspects relating to Health & Safety on site
- Promote a positive safety culture and safe working environment
Requirements
- 3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering or relevant similar
- Ideally will have 6+ years experience working in a power / utility sector
- Professional and commercial acumen and be capable of representing the company at a senior level in meetings
- Detailed knowledge of power engineering, including technical and installation requirements
- Detailed knowledge of power system operation and development
- Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures
- BEng Engineering (appropriate course content)
