The Job

  • Learn the entire auction set‑up process and be responsible for maintaining operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee yard layout by rowing up, sorting, lotting, and lining up both electronically and physically to maximise every inch of the yard.
  • Oversee the processing of all auction stock ensuring accuracy of descriptions and correct procedures are followed.
  • Safe coordination and control of all loading and unloading activities.
  • Operate and move a variety of heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Ensure all auction stock is suitably prepared for sale, photographed, and displayed on the company website.
  • Manage and coordinate the workloads of all yard staff and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with the marketing team to ensure all equipment is photographed and brochures complete.
  • Effective stock management and resolutions of issues.
  • Liaise with customers and hauliers on suitable delivery and collection times.
  • Become a bid catcher/ringman.

The Person

This role requires an organised individual with excellent problem‑solving and task‑management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to work both indoors and outdoors year‑round and have the ability to climb on and off large equipment. While these opportunities are initially aimed at third‑year placement students, they are also open to fresh graduates eager to gain valuable international business experience.

The Requirements

  • Be studying towards a third level discipline preferably in Business, IT, HR, Marketing or Accounts (other disciplines will be considered).
  • Show proficiency in the entire MS Office suite especially Excel.
  • Must be eligible to live, work and remain in the UK, within 1 hour’s commute of the office you are applying to.
  • The ability to work full‑time for 12–15 months.
  • Maintain a valid passport and driving licence.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to work extra hours during busy auction periods.
  • Be away from home 1–2 weeks at a time 4–5 times a year to travel to other auction sites.
  • Previous experience of stock control is desirable.
  • Experience/interest in heavy plant machinery and good knowledge of the different categories is desirable.
  • Experience in forklift/telehandler driving is desirable.
