Overview
Café Manager – Location: Farringdon, London (5 minute walk from Farringdon tube station). Position: Full-Time | Up to £35,000 per annum. We’re looking for a hands-on Café Manager to lead our catering service at Sainsbury’s Head Office in Farringdon, home to C-Suite colleagues and support teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage a barista-led outlet that provides a welcoming space for colleagues, serving high-quality coffee and a simple, freshly prepared menu of breakfast sandwiches and lunchtime options.
About the Role
As Café Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the outlet, combining excellent customer service with hands-on food preparation. Each day you’ll be responsible for preparing a small selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches on site. You will also act as the main point of contact between the client and our team, so building and maintaining strong client relationships is key. Alongside service delivery, you’ll take full responsibility for managing P&L performance, driving KPIs, and ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the catering outlet to the highest standard
- Prepare fresh breakfast and lunchtime sandwiches each day
- Deliver great service and a welcoming environment for senior colleagues and staff
- Be the primary liaison with the client, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded
- Take ownership of P&L, financial reporting, and cost controls
- Drive performance against agreed KPIs while ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety regulations
- Oversee stock management, compliance, and operational processes
- Lead by example, motivating and supporting a small team
- Build strong working relationships with on-site teams and stakeholders
About You
- Previous experience in a similar management role
- Experienced in food preparation, ideally within a catering or café environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a small team
- Excellent customer service skills, with the confidence to engage with senior professionals
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in P&L management and operational KPIs
- Proven ability to manage client relationships at a senior level
- Barista knowledge desirable but not essential – a willingness to learn is key
