This is a fantastic leadership opportunity, which involves leading a team to deliver embedded software on time, on cost and on quality!
Salary: up to circa £72,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site, due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: The Mission Planning & Control department is looking for a driven and passionate Software Project Lead to provide direction and drive to several project teams. You will engage with collaborators across the business to find opportunities to utilise current product lines, propose and develop new product lines as well as delivering customer capabilities. As part of this, you will have the opportunity to present both to the leadership team as well as internationally.
As a Software Project Lead you will provide leadership to the teams and be responsible for all parts of the software lifecycle (bidding, planning, budgeting, progress reporting, stakeholder management, integration, delivery and support). We are committed to developing careers and skillsets by supporting our teams' personal development whilst ensuring that a healthy work/life balance is maintained!
What we're looking for from you: We're looking for someone who is passionate about building strong team culture and supporting each team member to achieve their best.
- Proven ability to technical manage a team of software developers (typically 5 to 10 engineers)
- Be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of delivering software on complex systems through all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Show experience of building and managing relationships with project stakeholders as well as balancing competing requirements.
- A proven record of managing a software budget and have the confidence to control change to the requirements and costs, against an agreed estimate/budget
- A love of problem solving and an open minded, yet realistic, approach to change and improvement.
Knowledge / interest in the following topics are considered a bonus, but are not required: Java / C++ Mission Planning Software.
