The Doctoral Scholarship from the Paul Mellon Centre supports students embarking on doctoral studies in the field of British art or architectural history, or British visual culture. Projects may also focus on British visual culture understood more broadly, from the medieval period to the present day and across the spectrum of relevant geographical and cultural contexts.

What is funded + Duration
The funding provides 32,000 GBP per year over 3 years to cover university fees and living costs.
Applicants must have applied for, or be in receipt of an offer of, a PhD that engages with the histories of British art at a UK-based University. Also, have completed a master\βs qualification or equivalent prior to commencing the PhD. Applications from those who are underrepresented within the academic field of the humanities in the UK are particularly welcomed. This award is open to international applicants.
