Headquartered in New York, we have offices in Washington, London, São Paulo, Brasilia, Tokyo, Singapore, and San Francisco, as well as on-the-ground experts in more than a hundred countries in every region of the world. We are committed to analysis that is free of political bias and the influence of private interests.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Strategist to join our innovative Geoeconomics team. This highly visible Director-level role is a unique opportunity for an individual with significant experience in FX and rates markets to work at the intersection of geopolitics and financial markets. The successful candidate will connect market themes with Eurasia Group's political analysis and deliver actionable insights to sophisticated financial market participants across the globe. This role is cross-functional, bridging Geoeconomics with regional and sectoral teams, and is responsible for both thematic and quantitative research output tailored to the interest of a diverse range of market participants. With a focus on analytical impact and direct client engagement, the Strategist will drive new product innovation and deepen Eurasia Group's market-relevant offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze global market trends—primarily in FX and rates—through a macroeconomic and geopolitical lens, building on Eurasia Group's political research and outlooks.
  • Develop and deliver a mix of thematic and quantitative research, including periodic deep-dive reports and concise, impactful daily output for internal and client audiences.
  • Map out how geopolitical scenarios, such as elections, policy shifts, and regime changes, affect local and global markets.
  • Create clear, compelling macro and market narratives connecting politics to concrete market outcomes.
  • Act as a cross-functional resource, working closely with country risk and sectoral analysts to integrate their expertise into market-relevant outputs.
  • Devise and launch new research products that connect Eurasia Group's political and macroeconomic analysis to tangible investment outcomes, enhancing client value and retention.
  • Dedicate at least 30% of time to direct client interaction (via calls, in-person meetings, digital channels), developing strong client relationships that drive retention and upsells.
  • Be an expert resource for colleagues to help spot and highlight market risks and opportunities with strong political underpinnings.
  • Continuously generate innovative research ideas that expand EG's capabilities and differentiate us as a thought leader in geoeconomics.

Role Requirements:

  • 5–15 years' experience working in global financial markets as a strategist or trader, with substantial focus on FX and rates.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex macroeconomic and geopolitical scenarios and clearly communicate likely market outcomes.
  • Demonstrable track record with sophisticated institutional investors, such as asset managers, in delivering insightful, value-add commentary and analysis.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including Excel and Bloomberg; familiarity with Macrobond and programming languages a plus.
  • Capacity to create both thematic research (big-picture narratives) and in-depth quantitative/technical analysis.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex arguments with clarity to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Based in New York or London, with significant domestic and international travel expected.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Eligible to work in the United States or the United Kingdom.

Career Development:

This is a high-profile, global-facing role offering significant exposure to cutting-edge geopolitical and market analysis. Success will be measured by analytical impact, product development, and deepening client relationships, with the opportunity to expand responsibilities, build a team, and establish thought leadership within EG and the broader market community.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $170,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
